What you can do with SkuVault in Claude and ChatGPT

Check stock by warehouse and location

Find a product, then inspect its available quantities and stock locations.

skuvault_get_product skuvault_get_available_quantities skuvault_get_inventory_by_location

Review sales and inventory

List sales in the requested status and compare their items with warehouse stock.

skuvault_list_sales skuvault_get_warehouse_quantities

Review purchase-order receiving

List purchase orders and inspect their receiving history to see what has arrived.

skuvault_list_purchase_orders skuvault_list_po_receives

Record an inventory adjustment

Inspect the current item quantity, then add or remove the explicitly requested stock at the selected location. Each adjustment changes inventory and must not be blindly repeated.

Before you connect

The login page asks for your SkuVault tenant token and SkuVault user token.

Find both in SkuVault under Admin → Integrations, or request them with SkuVault's getTokens API call (your login email and password; this server never asks for your password). Use an enabled dedicated user with only the permissions this integration needs. Requested inventory, product, sales and purchase-order data passes to your chosen AI client and its LLM provider. When requested, three write tools add stock, remove stock or set the quantity at a warehouse location; these change inventory records. Disable that user to stop its API access, or revoke/regenerate its tokens using SkuVault's controls. Billing follows the tenant token: rotating only the user token keeps the identity; replacing the tenant token starts a new usage and billing identity.

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your SkuVault tenant token and SkuVault user token. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

Example prompts

Turn on the SkuVault connector, then ask in plain words. The AI picks the tools.

skuvault_add_stockwrite
Add stock
WRITE: add quantity of a product to a warehouse location (a transaction in SkuVault's history; every call adds again, so do not retry blindly). The transaction reason must already exist in SkuVault. Serialized or lotted products need serial numbers / a scanned lot code. Moderate throttling (10/min). POST /inventory/addItem.
skuvault_remove_stockwrite
Remove stock
WRITE: remove quantity of a product from a warehouse location (a transaction in SkuVault's history; every call removes again, so do not retry blindly). skuvault_set_stock_quantitywrite
Set stock quantity
WRITE: set the exact quantity of a product at one warehouse location, overwriting what is there (running it again with the same values changes nothing more). Use skuvault_get_inventory_by_location first to see the current quantity. Moderate throttling (10/min). POST /inventory/setItemQuantity.
skuvault_usage_statusmeta
Usage status (free-tier meter)
Report the caller's current usage: the plan, calls used this month, the limit of the plan (the free monthly cap or the Pro fair use limit), remaining, and whether the limit is reached. Read-only; does not count against the meter.
skuvault_request_featuremeta
Request a missing feature
Tell usefulapi that the user needs something the SkuVault tools cannot do yet (a missing tool, field or filter). Call it only when the user asks for something none of the tools can do, and tell the user that you send the request. Do not call it for errors or for normal requests. Do not include personal data, credentials or customer records. Stored with the product name and the client type (for example Claude or Cursor), without the user's account. At most 5 requests per day. Does not count against the meter.
skuvault_upgrademeta
Upgrade to Pro (unlimited*)
Get Pro: unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 a month) on SkuVault (the free tier caps monthly usage). Plans: "monthly" — $9/month; "yearly" — $90/year (2 months free). Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period, so it also suits a one-time job. *A fair use limit applies. For heavy use (near Pro's limit): "plus" or "plus_yearly" — Pro+, $39/month or $390/year, unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 100,000 a month); an existing Pro subscription changes to Pro+ in place (needs confirm: true; the price difference for the rest of the period is charged at once). Otherwise returns a short link to open in your browser (it opens Stripe Checkout); after payment the account upgrades automatically. Does not count against the meter.
skuvault_cancel_subscriptionmeta
Cancel the Pro subscription
Cancel the caller's SkuVault Pro subscription at the end of the paid period (no refund for the current period; Pro continues until then, then the free tier applies). Requires confirm: true. Run skuvault_upgrade later to undo the cancel before the period ends. Does not count against the meter.

FAQ

What can I do with SkuVault in Claude or ChatGPT?

Check stock by warehouse and location. Review sales and inventory. Review purchase-order receiving. Record an inventory adjustment. See what you can do for the details.

Is this an official SkuVault product?

No. usefulapi is an independent service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by SkuVault. The server calls the SkuVault API with your own SkuVault access, so it sees only the data that your account can see.

Can I connect SkuVault to Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. In Claude, add this server's URL as a custom connector. In ChatGPT, add it as a custom MCP server in Plugins. Then log in once. Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code and Codex work too. See the setup steps.

What do I need to connect?

The login page asks for your SkuVault tenant token and SkuVault user token. See Before you connect for where to find them.

Do I put my SkuVault key or an Authorization header in the client config?

No. Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your SkuVault tenant token and SkuVault user token. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

How do you keep my SkuVault credentials?

The login stores them encrypted in the authorization grant of your connection. The server uses them to call the SkuVault API for you and to derive a private account id for usage metering. usefulapi does not show them on any page or in any reply. To stop all access, remove the connector and change or delete these credentials in SkuVault.

Can the AI change my SkuVault data?

Yes, if you approve it. 3 of the 22 SkuVault tools can create or change data. The other 19 are marked read-only. Most MCP clients ask you to approve a tool call before it runs.

What does it cost?

The Free plan gives 50 tool calls / month. Pro costs $9/mo or $90/yr, with unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 tool calls a month), for this SkuVault server only. Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period. Run skuvault_usage_status to see how many calls you used.

How do I subscribe or cancel?

Ask the AI to run skuvault_upgrade: it returns a Stripe Checkout link. To cancel, run skuvault_cancel_subscription. Pro continues to the end of the paid period.

What if a SkuVault tool that I need is missing?

Tell the AI what you wanted to do. It can send the request with skuvault_request_feature. We store the text with the server name, the type of AI client and the tool you tried, not with your account, and read every request when we plan new tools. You can send up to 5 requests per day.

Which AI clients can I use?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth login: Claude (web and desktop), Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and others.

This is a Model Context Protocol endpoint — meant to be connected from an AI client, not opened in a browser. An invalid_token response at the URL is the auth gate working as designed; clients authenticate automatically.
