Before you connect

The login page asks for your Taleez secret key.

Create it in Taleez → account settings → API & Webhooks (copy the secret key, not the public one) and give it the scopes you want to allow. Candidate read scope is required for login. Candidate contact details, CV/document links, recruiting notes and events you request pass to your chosen AI client and its LLM provider; connect only records you are authorized to share. When requested, tools create or update candidates, set properties or associate them with pools or jobs. They do not hire, reject or delete candidates. Revoke this dedicated key in Taleez to stop vendor access. Billing is per secret key; rotating it starts a new usage and billing identity.

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Taleez secret key. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

Example prompts

Turn on the Taleez connector, then ask in plain words. The AI picks the tools.

taleez_create_candidatewrite
Create candidate
WRITE: add a new candidate to the Taleez database (first and last name required; the e-mail, if given, must be unique in the company). Creates a record only: the candidate is not attached to a job and no e-mail is sent by this call. Not idempotent: calling twice with no mail creates two candidates. POST /0/candidates.
taleez_update_candidatewrite
Update candidate
WRITE: change a candidate's name, e-mail, phone, social links or location. The current record is read first and unchanged name, mail and phone are sent back, so only what you pass changes (Taleez' update endpoint otherwise needs first and last name). Social links and location, when given, REPLACE the existing ones (an empty social_links object removes them all). Overwrites data; no message is sent. POST /0/candidates/{id}.
taleez_set_candidate_propertieswrite
Set candidate properties
WRITE: set custom property values on a candidate. For a property without choices pass value (DATE as yyyy-MM-dd); for a property with choices pass choices (choice ids, see taleez_list_candidate_properties). An empty choices list removes all selected choices unless append_choices is true. Overwrites the previous values of the listed properties. POST /0/candidates/{id}/properties.
taleez_add_candidates_to_poolwrite
Add candidates to a pool
WRITE: add existing candidates to a talent pool (see taleez_list_pools). Adding a candidate already in the pool is harmless. No message is sent. POST /0/pools/{id}/candidates.
taleez_add_candidates_to_jobwrite
Add candidates to a job
WRITE: associate existing candidates to a job so they appear in its recruitment pipeline (the vendor's 'add candidates to a job'; this is an association made by the recruiter, not a candidate application, and this call sends no message). Pass location_id for a job with several locations. POST /0/jobs/{id}/candidates.
taleez_usage_statusmeta
Usage status (free-tier meter)
Report the caller's current usage: the plan, calls used this month, the limit of the plan (the free monthly cap or the Pro fair use limit), remaining, and whether the limit is reached. Read-only; does not count against the meter.
taleez_request_featuremeta
Request a missing feature
Tell usefulapi that the user needs something the Taleez tools cannot do yet (a missing tool, field or filter). Call it only when the user asks for something none of the tools can do, and tell the user that you send the request. Do not call it for errors or for normal requests. Do not include personal data, credentials or customer records. Stored with the product name and the client type (for example Claude or Cursor), without the user's account. At most 5 requests per day. Does not count against the meter.
taleez_upgrademeta
Upgrade to Pro (unlimited*)
Get Pro: unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 a month) on Taleez (the free tier caps monthly usage). Plans: "monthly" — $9/month; "yearly" — $90/year (2 months free). Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period, so it also suits a one-time job. *A fair use limit applies. For heavy use (near Pro's limit): "plus" or "plus_yearly" — Pro+, $39/month or $390/year, unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 100,000 a month); an existing Pro subscription changes to Pro+ in place (needs confirm: true; the price difference for the rest of the period is charged at once). Otherwise returns a short link to open in your browser (it opens Stripe Checkout); after payment the account upgrades automatically. Does not count against the meter.
taleez_cancel_subscriptionmeta
Cancel the Pro subscription
Cancel the caller's Taleez Pro subscription at the end of the paid period (no refund for the current period; Pro continues until then, then the free tier applies). Requires confirm: true. Run taleez_upgrade later to undo the cancel before the period ends. Does not count against the meter.

FAQ

What can I do with Taleez in Claude or ChatGPT?

Review current job postings. Look up a candidate’s applications. Inspect a talent pool. Add candidates to a pool. Update a candidate’s profile. See what you can do for the details.

Is this an official Taleez product?

No. usefulapi is an independent service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Taleez. The server calls the Taleez API with your own Taleez access, so it sees only the data that your account can see.

Can I connect Taleez to Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. In Claude, add this server's URL as a custom connector. In ChatGPT, add it as a custom MCP server in Plugins. Then log in once. Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code and Codex work too. See the setup steps.

What do I need to connect?

The login page asks for your Taleez secret key. See Before you connect for where to find it.

Do I put my Taleez key or an Authorization header in the client config?

No. Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Taleez secret key. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

How do you keep my Taleez credentials?

The login stores them encrypted in the authorization grant of your connection. The server uses them to call the Taleez API for you and to derive a private account id for usage metering. usefulapi does not show them on any page or in any reply. To stop all access, remove the connector and change or delete these credentials in Taleez.

Can the AI change my Taleez data?

Yes, if you approve it. 5 of the 25 Taleez tools can create or change data. The other 20 are marked read-only. Most MCP clients ask you to approve a tool call before it runs.

What does it cost?

The Free plan gives 50 tool calls / month. Pro costs $9/mo or $90/yr, with unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 tool calls a month), for this Taleez server only. Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period. Run taleez_usage_status to see how many calls you used.

How do I subscribe or cancel?

Ask the AI to run taleez_upgrade: it returns a Stripe Checkout link. To cancel, run taleez_cancel_subscription. Pro continues to the end of the paid period.

What if a Taleez tool that I need is missing?

Tell the AI what you wanted to do. It can send the request with taleez_request_feature. We store the text with the server name, the type of AI client and the tool you tried, not with your account, and read every request when we plan new tools. You can send up to 5 requests per day.

Which AI clients can I use?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth login: Claude (web and desktop), Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and others.

This is a Model Context Protocol endpoint — meant to be connected from an AI client, not opened in a browser. An invalid_token response at the URL is the auth gate working as designed; clients authenticate automatically.
