Before you connect

The login page asks for your Bookafy API key.

Find it in Bookafy → Settings → Integrations (the API key of an admin user; API access depends on your Bookafy plan). Your key is used only to call the Bookafy API on your behalf; it is never shown to anyone.

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Bookafy API key. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

Example prompts

Turn on the Bookafy connector, then ask in plain words. The AI picks the tools.

Tools 19

ToolTypeWhat it does
bookafy_get_accountread
Get account
The account this API key belongs to: the admin user's email. Use it to confirm which Bookafy account is connected. GET /api/v3/me.
bookafy_list_appointmentsread
List appointments
List the appointments of ONE staff member (identified by their email: take it from bookafy_list_staff), newest first, optionally within a UTC date range. Each item has the service, customer, start/end time (UTC), title, price, duration and status. Page with page/per_page (default 25). Cancel/reschedule tokens are never returned. GET /api/v3/appointments.
bookafy_create_appointmentwrite
Create appointment
WRITE: book an appointment for a customer with a staff member and service (ids from bookafy_list_staff and bookafy_list_services). The customer is created from the given name/email/phone. Bookafy may email the booking confirmation to the customer and add the event to connected calendars, so only call it when the user clearly asked to book. Times are converted to UTC. POST /api/v3/appointments.
bookafy_update_appointmentwrite
Update appointment
WRITE: reschedule or edit an existing appointment. Send the required staff, service, new times and customer name — read current values with bookafy_list_appointments first. Omitted optional fields are not sent. The customer may be notified of the change. Times are converted to UTC. PUT /api/v3/appointments/{id}.
bookafy_cancel_appointmentwrite
Cancel appointment
WRITE, IRREVERSIBLE: delete (cancel) an appointment. Bookafy may notify the customer and remove the event from connected calendars, and the appointment cannot be restored through the API. Only call it when the user explicitly asked to cancel this appointment. DELETE /api/v3/appointments/{id}.
bookafy_list_customersread
List customers
List the account's customers (id, name, email, phone and custom booking-form answers). Bookafy returns the whole list at once; use `search` (matches name, email or phone) and `limit`/`offset` to page through it. GET /api/v3/customers.
bookafy_create_customerwrite
Create customer
WRITE: add a customer record (name required; email, phone and custom booking-form answers optional). It does not book anything. POST /api/v3/customers.
bookafy_update_customerwrite
Update customer
WRITE: change a customer's details. Bookafy needs the name every time, so pass the current name when you only change the email or phone. Fields you leave out are not sent. PUT /api/v3/customers/{id}.
bookafy_list_servicesread
List services
List every service (appointment type) with id, name, price, duration, buffers, category, scheduling mode and online-meeting options. Use the ids when booking. GET /api/v3/services.
bookafy_list_appointment_typesread
List appointment types with booking links
The appointment types grouped by category, each with its public booking-page link — use it to give a customer the link to book themselves. GET /api/v3/appointment_types.
bookafy_list_staffread
List staff
List the staff users (id, name, email, booking-page URL). Use the id or email for appointments. GET /api/v3/staff_members.
bookafy_list_classesread
List classes
List classes and one-off appointments with price, duration, location, seats, booking link and their sessions (date, seats total/filled/remaining, zoom link). GET /api/v3/classes.
bookafy_get_classread
Get class with sessions and attendees
One class with its sessions and the attendees booked on each (name, email, phone, booking time). Optional filters narrow the sessions. GET /api/v3/classes/{id}.
bookafy_list_session_attendeesread
List session attendees
The attendees of one class session (name, email, phone). Get session ids from bookafy_list_classes. GET /api/v3/sessions.
bookafy_list_webhooksread
List webhook subscriptions
List the webhook subscriptions (id, callback URL, event type such as appointment_created or customer_updated). Read-only. GET /api/v3/api_subscriptions.
bookafy_usage_statusmeta
Usage status (free-tier meter)
Report the caller's current usage: the plan, calls used this month, the limit of the plan (the free monthly cap or the Pro fair use limit), remaining, and whether the limit is reached. Read-only; does not count against the meter.
bookafy_request_featuremeta
Request a missing feature
Tell usefulapi that the user needs something the Bookafy tools cannot do yet (a missing tool, field or filter). Call it only when the user asks for something none of the tools can do, and tell the user that you send the request. Do not call it for errors or for normal requests. Do not include personal data, credentials or customer records. Stored with the product name and the client type (for example Claude or Cursor), without the user's account. At most 5 requests per day. Does not count against the meter.
bookafy_upgrademeta
Upgrade to Pro (unlimited*)
Get Pro: unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 a month) on Bookafy (the free tier caps monthly usage). Plans: "monthly" — $9/month; "yearly" — $90/year (2 months free). Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period, so it also suits a one-time job. *A fair use limit applies. For heavy use (near Pro's limit): "plus" or "plus_yearly" — Pro+, $39/month or $390/year, unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 100,000 a month); an existing Pro subscription changes to Pro+ in place (needs confirm: true; the price difference for the rest of the period is charged at once). Otherwise returns a short link to open in your browser (it opens Stripe Checkout); after payment the account upgrades automatically. Does not count against the meter.
bookafy_cancel_subscriptionmeta
Cancel the Pro subscription
Cancel the caller's Bookafy Pro subscription at the end of the paid period (no refund for the current period; Pro continues until then, then the free tier applies). Requires confirm: true. Run bookafy_upgrade later to undo the cancel before the period ends. Does not count against the meter.

FAQ

What can I do with Bookafy in Claude or ChatGPT?

Review a staff calendar. Share a self-booking link. Find a customer record. Reschedule an appointment. See what you can do for the details.

Is this an official Bookafy product?

No. usefulapi is an independent service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Bookafy. The server calls the Bookafy API with your own Bookafy access, so it sees only the data that your account can see.

Can I connect Bookafy to Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. In Claude, add this server's URL as a custom connector. In ChatGPT, add it as a custom MCP server in Plugins. Then log in once. Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code and Codex work too. See the setup steps.

What do I need to connect?

The login page asks for your Bookafy API key. See Before you connect for where to find it.

Do I put my Bookafy key or an Authorization header in the client config?

No. Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Bookafy API key. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

How do you keep my Bookafy credentials?

The login stores them encrypted in the authorization grant of your connection. The server uses them to call the Bookafy API for you and to derive a private account id for usage metering. usefulapi does not show them on any page or in any reply. To stop all access, remove the connector and change or delete these credentials in Bookafy.

Can the AI change my Bookafy data?

Yes, if you approve it. 5 of the 15 Bookafy tools can create or change data. The other 10 are marked read-only. Most MCP clients ask you to approve a tool call before it runs.

What does it cost?

The Free plan gives 50 tool calls / month. Pro costs $9/mo or $90/yr, with unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 tool calls a month), for this Bookafy server only. Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period. Run bookafy_usage_status to see how many calls you used.

How do I subscribe or cancel?

Ask the AI to run bookafy_upgrade: it returns a Stripe Checkout link. To cancel, run bookafy_cancel_subscription. Pro continues to the end of the paid period.

What if a Bookafy tool that I need is missing?

Tell the AI what you wanted to do. It can send the request with bookafy_request_feature. We store the text with the server name, the type of AI client and the tool you tried, not with your account, and read every request when we plan new tools. You can send up to 5 requests per day.

Which AI clients can I use?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth login: Claude (web and desktop), Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and others.

This is a Model Context Protocol endpoint — meant to be connected from an AI client, not opened in a browser. An invalid_token response at the URL is the auth gate working as designed; clients authenticate automatically.
