Starshipit MCP server

Read Starshipit orders, tracking, rates and manifests; create and update unshipped orders. Hosted by usefulapi — connect from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client.

Claude claude.ai · Desktop

  1. Open Customize → Connectors, then click + Add → Add custom connector.
  2. Enter the name Starshipit and this URL, then click Add:
    https://starshipit.usefulapi.io/mcp
  3. Claude opens the login page: enter your Starshipit API key and Starshipit subscription key.
  4. In a chat, click + → Connectors and turn on Starshipit.

Team and Enterprise: an Owner adds the connector for the organization first.

Claude Code

Run this command, then run /mcp in Claude Code to log in:

claude mcp add --transport http starshipit https://starshipit.usefulapi.io/mcp

Cursor

Add to Cursor or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "starshipit": {
      "url": "https://starshipit.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Add to VS Code or add this to .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "starshipit": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://starshipit.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Other MCP clients (Windsurf, Cline, Zed and more): add the URL as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP). The client then opens the login page in your browser. Do not add an Authorization header: see Before you connect.

Before you connect

The login page asks for your Starshipit API key and Starshipit subscription key.

Find both in Starshipit under Settings → API (the API key is the StarShipIT-Api-Key, the subscription key is the Ocp-Apim-Subscription-Key; generate them there if they are empty). The keys are used only to call the Starshipit API on your behalf; they are never shown to anyone.

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Starshipit API key and Starshipit subscription key. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

Tools 23

ToolTypeWhat it does
starshipit_list_unshipped_ordersread
List unshipped orders
List unshipped (new, not yet printed) orders with full details: addresses, items, packages, carrier. By default only orders updated in the last 24 hours; use since_order_date / since_last_updated to look further back. ids_only=true returns just the order ids. GET /api/orders/unshipped.
starshipit_list_shipped_ordersread
List shipped orders
List shipped orders (label printed) with tracking number, tracking status, carrier, manifest and shipped date. By default only orders updated in the last 24 hours; use since_last_updated to look further back. Label files are not returned. GET /api/orders/shipped.
starshipit_list_printed_ordersread
List printed or unmanifested orders
List orders whose label was recently printed, or printed but not yet manifested, with tracking numbers. GET /api/orders/shipments.
starshipit_list_delivered_ordersread
List delivered orders by reference
List delivered orders that carry a given order reference (the customer reference), with full order details. GET /api/orders/delivered.
starshipit_orders_summaryread
Orders summary by status
A compact list of orders in one status (new, printed, shipped, archived) with contact, country, carrier, weight, manifest and dates, plus account-wide counts (unprinted, printed, shipped, archived, invalid addresses, returns). Supports filters and sorting. GET /api/orders/summary.
starshipit_search_ordersread
Search orders
Search orders by order number, tracking number, customer reference or recipient name (phrase), optionally limited to unshipped or shipped orders. Returns id, number, date, name, carrier, tracking number and country. GET /api/orders/search.
starshipit_get_orderread
Get one order
One order by Starshipit order_id or by the order_number from the source platform. Use include to add sections (Items, Packages, Events, Metadatas, Shipping_Price, ...). Status defaults to Unshipped in Starshipit, so pass status=Shipped or Printed for orders already printed. Label files are not returned. GET /api/orders?order_id= or ?order_number=.
starshipit_list_ordersread
List orders with filters
List full order details for one status (Unshipped by default, or Shipped / Printed), narrowed by a filter such as `Order:::1419,Country:::Australia` and sorted. Heavier than the summary: use starshipit_orders_summary for overviews. Label files are not returned. GET /api/orders (no id).
starshipit_track_shipmentread
Track a shipment
Tracking details for a shipped order, by tracking number or by order number: status, carrier, tracking URL, shipment date and the carrier's tracking events. GET /api/track.
starshipit_get_ratesread
Quote shipping rates
QUOTE ONLY: shipping rates (service name, code, price) for a destination and parcels from the couriers enabled in the account. Nothing is purchased, created or printed. The sender defaults to the account's pickup address. Needs at least one enabled courier. POST /api/rates.
starshipit_list_delivery_servicesread
List delivery services
QUOTE ONLY: the carrier delivery services available for a shipment (carrier, service name and code) and, with include_pricing, their prices and service options. Nothing is purchased, created or printed. POST /api/deliveryservices.
starshipit_list_address_bookread
List address book
List contacts in the account's address book (name, company, address, phone, email), sorted by a column. GET /api/addressbook/filtered.
starshipit_list_manifestsread
List manifests
List manifests already submitted to carriers (newest first): number, date, carrier, package and consignment counts. Read only; manifesting is not available here. GET /api/manifests.
starshipit_list_productsread
List product catalogue
List Product Catalogue records (SKU, title, weight, dimensions, HS code, bin location, price), optionally searching by SKU or title. GET /api/products.
starshipit_list_tagsread
List order tags
List the account's user-defined order tags, optionally filtered by tag name. GET /api/tags.
starshipit_list_pickupsread
List booked pickups
List courier pickups already booked for the account. Read only; booking a pickup is not available here. GET /api/pickup.
starshipit_create_orderwrite
Create an unshipped order
WRITE: create ONE new UNSHIPPED order in Starshipit (order number, destination, optional items, parcels, sender). No label is printed, no shipment is booked and no postage is bought; staff still print the label in Starshipit. Not idempotent: creating the same order_number twice may create a duplicate, so check with starshipit_search_orders first. Starshipit rules configured in the account (carrier selection, validation) may run on the new order. POST /api/orders.
starshipit_update_orderwrite
Update an order's details
WRITE: change details of ONE UNSHIPPED order by order_id (the order is read first and refused if it is already printed or shipped): addresses, shipping method/carrier/service, items, packages, reference or an internal note. This tool never sends status or manifest flags. It does not print a label or buy postage. Items/packages: include item_id / package_id (from starshipit_get_order with include=Items,Packages) to modify an existing line; a line without an id may be added. Nothing is deleted. Send only the fields you want to change. PUT /api/orders.
starshipit_add_order_tagswrite
Add tags to an order
WRITE: add up to 10 tags to ONE UNSHIPPED order (read first; refused if printed or shipped) (a tag that does not exist yet is created). Tags are used for filtering and can drive the account's automation rules. Adding a tag the order already has changes nothing. Tags are not removed. POST /api/tags/order.
starshipit_usage_statusmeta
Usage status (free-tier meter)
Report the caller's current free-tier usage this month: calls used, monthly limit, remaining, and whether the cap is reached. Read-only; does not count against the meter.
starshipit_request_featuremeta
Request a missing feature
Tell usefulapi that the user needs something the Starshipit tools cannot do yet (a missing tool, field or filter). Call it only when the user asks for something none of the tools can do, and tell the user that you send the request. Do not call it for errors or for normal requests. Do not include personal data, credentials or customer records. Stored with the product name and the client type (for example Claude or Cursor), without the user's account. At most 5 requests per day. Does not count against the meter.
starshipit_upgrademeta
Upgrade to Pro (unlimited)
Subscribe to the Pro plan for UNLIMITED Starshipit tool calls (the free tier caps monthly usage). Choose monthly ($9/month) or yearly ($90/year — 2 months free) billing. Returns a Stripe Checkout link to open in your browser; after payment your account upgrades automatically. Does not count against the meter.
starshipit_cancel_subscriptionmeta
Cancel the Pro subscription
Cancel the caller's Starshipit Pro subscription at the end of the paid period (no refund for the current period; unlimited calls continue until then, then the free tier applies). Requires confirm: true. Run starshipit_upgrade later to undo the cancel before the period ends. Does not count against the meter.

FAQ

Is this an official Starshipit product?

No. usefulapi is an independent service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Starshipit. The server calls the Starshipit API with your own Starshipit access, so it sees only the data that your account can see.

What do I need to connect?

The login page asks for your Starshipit API key and Starshipit subscription key. See Before you connect for where to find them.

Do I put my Starshipit key or an Authorization header in the client config?

No. Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Starshipit API key and Starshipit subscription key. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

How do you keep my Starshipit credentials?

The login stores them encrypted in the authorization grant of your connection. The server uses them to call the Starshipit API for you and to derive a private account id for usage metering. usefulapi does not show them on any page or in any reply. To stop all access, remove the connector and change or delete these credentials in Starshipit.

Can the AI change my Starshipit data?

Yes, if you approve it. 3 of the 19 Starshipit tools can create or change data. The other 16 are marked read-only. Most MCP clients ask you to approve a tool call before it runs.

What does it cost?

The Free plan gives 100 tool calls / month. Pro costs $9/mo or $90/yr, with unlimited tool calls, for this Starshipit server only. Run starshipit_usage_status to see how many calls you used.

How do I subscribe or cancel?

Ask the AI to run starshipit_upgrade: it returns a Stripe Checkout link. To cancel, run starshipit_cancel_subscription. Pro continues to the end of the paid period.

What if a Starshipit tool that I need is missing?

Tell the AI what you wanted to do. It can send the request with starshipit_request_feature. We store the text with the server name, the type of AI client and the tool you tried, not with your account, and read every request when we plan new tools. You can send up to 5 requests per day.

Which AI clients can I use?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth login: Claude (web and desktop), Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and others.

This is a Model Context Protocol endpoint — meant to be connected from an AI client, not opened in a browser. An invalid_token response at the URL is the auth gate working as designed; clients authenticate automatically.
